MAY 12-15, 2025 AT THE HYATT REGENCY SAN FRANCISCO, SAN FRANCISCO, CA
46th IEEE Symposium on
Security and Privacy
Most speaking slots at S&P are for the presentation of rigorous, exhaustive, and complete peer-reviewed research of the highest calibre.
S&P Short Talks are for anything else that would be of interest to the S&P community. The goal is to provide a venue for the community to say what needs to be said and to have fun along the way.
Speakers will have up to 5 minutes to explain, expound, hypothesize, rant, rave, complain, celebrate, entertain, frustrate, or delight the audience.
Themes of these talks may include, but are not necessarily limited to:
Short talks may be serious, profound, informative, insightful, uplifting, and edifying. They may also be humorous, shallow, boneheaded, trivial, critical, satirical, maudlin, tragic, magic, or sarcastic. Talks don’t need to be humorous or entertaining per se, just interesting to attendees. If you aren’t sure if your talk is a good fit, feel free to email the short talks chair and ask. (He might even reply!)
Proposing a talk is intentionally informal. Submit to the HotCRP instance linked below with a brief abstract and outline of what you’d like to discuss. Talks can be shorter than 5 minutes, but absolutely no longer. Submissions must be made by the presenter. Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the short talks chair. (Flattery is encouraged but not required.)

If selected, you will be required to provide a Google Slide deck 24 hours before the session.
The target submission deadline for full consideration is May 2, 2025 (AoE). Proposals submitted after that date but before 5pm PDT May 12 will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the program is full. If there are still slots remaining at that point, you can propose to the Short Talks Chair in person if you can find him.
Talk proposals by PR firms or for product sales will be summarily rejected.
All proposals submitted after the Short Talks session takes place will be automatically accepted, but the speaker will be responsible for their own time travel expenses.
